Training Programme

Bexley Safeguarding Partnership for Children and Young People provides training and development opportunities for anyone who works or volunteers with children and young people in Bexley. This is to help them safeguard and promote the welfare of children effectively. The opportunities available reflect different levels of responsibility.

Practitioners and managers must be able to work effectively with others, both within their own agency and across organisational boundaries. This is best achieved by a combination of single-agency training (which is the responsibility of single agencies) and multi-agency learning and development opportunities (coordinated by the BSCB).

Training and Development Framework

The Training and Development Framework (which came into effect in April 2017) identifies 4 target groups:

  • Group 1 Staff / volunteers who have occasional contact with children and young people

  • Group 2 Staff/volunteers who might get involved in safeguarding processes

  • Group 3 Staff where a substantial amount of time is spent working with vulnerable and at risk children young people

  • Group 4 Safeguarding Champions
