Welcome to Bexley LSCB's Website - this website provides information for professionals, volunteers, children & young people and their families.

Children & young people can only be safeguarded if everyone involved with them works together effectively. Work to safeguard and promote the welfare of children is present in all involvement with children & young people from universal through early intervention and targeted services to child protection.
Child protection is part of safeguarding of children. It refers to the work undertaken to protect specific children who are suffering or at risk of suffering significant harm.

Bexley Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB)

It is everyone’s responsibility to ensure children are protected. The LSCB is the key statutory mechanism for agreeing how each organisation in Bexley will co-operate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in the locality and for ensuring the effectiveness of what they do.
Some of its key functions are: :
  • To develop and agree local policies and procedures for inter-agency working, and to audit, evaluate and monitor how well services work together to safeguard children.
  • To communicate the shared responsibility across agencies for safeguarding children, and to encourage and develop effective working partnerships between professionals, through training and development programmes.
  • To listen to and consult with children and young people to ensure their views and opinions are taken into account.
  • To undertake serious case reviews where a child has died or is seriously harmed.
  • To undertake the Child Death Overview process
